Printed textbooks may he a thing of past now. The government is preparing to provide e-books to students studying from standard 1st to 8th. The Education Department implemented 'Shikshan

Pandhari' project in selected Zilla Parishad schools near Pandharpur, Under the project, the students were provided with tablets containing syllabus of the respective standard.

project, the government has now decided to convert all printed books into e-books. The syllabus of standard 1st and 2nd was revised last year. The work of conversion into e-book is going on while new textbook will be prepared with e-book. Some audio-visual features suited to the texts are also added in the book so that students could understand the matter thoroughly and thus create interest about the subject. Some of the books are in the form of animation.

The piloi project 'Shikshan Pandhari' was undertaken with objective of enhancing quality of education through use of technology in school education, making education interesting and interactive.

Anticipating the need of educational stuff to expand scope of the project, the decision of preparing e-books has been taken. It is possible to take help of private firms for completing thelask. as Balbharti lacks technical expertise in formation of e-books.
