The Visakhapatnam Co-operative Bank Ltd., is one of the Oldest Co-operative Bank in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The great Stalwarts like Sri. Tenneti Viswanadham and Sri. Maddi Pattabhi Reddy were among the basic founders of the Bank. The Bank is registered under the Co-operative Societies Act as a Primary Co-operative Society on 11-01-1916 and started its business on 05-02-1916. Initially the Area of operation of the Bank is restricted to Visakhapatnam District and now Area of operation extends to the entire State of Andhra Pradesh. The Bank worked under the provisions of A.P. Co-operative Societies Act, 1964 and obtained banking license on 15th January, 1981. The Bank worked as a Unit Bank till 1984 and from then onwards branch expansion takes place initially in the Visakhapatnam City, Visakhapatnam District and then nearby Districts also. The Bank is converted and registered under Andhra Pradesh Mutually Aided Co-operative Societies Act in the year 1997 to avoid intervention of Co-operative Department in the day-to-day activities of the Bank. The Bank has merged the Bobbili Co-operative Urban Bank and its branches in the year 2007 by bearing its losses to protect the Co-operative movement in general and interests of Bobbili bank members and Depositors in particular. The merger of Ramachandrapuram Co-operative Bank, E.G.Dist, A.P. will takes place shortly. The Bank is proposing expansion of branches in coming few years to provide better services to the people of entire state of Andhra Pradesh. The Bank became Biggest Non-Scheduled Co-operative Bank in Andhra Pradesh and 2nd biggest bank in overall parameters in A.P. The Bank is having a Vision and Mission of become Biggest Co-operative Bank in Andhra Pradesh among all Co-operative Urban Banks and business turnover to be crossed over 1000 Crores in coming few years.
