Income Tax collection: The government has collected an all-time high income tax of Rs 4.50 lakh crore in 2010-11, at least Rs 4,000 crore more than the revised budget estimates of Rs 4.46 lakh crore.This is in addition to all-time high refund of Rs 72,000 crore that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has made till March 31, 2011 by clearing backlogs.

India is 5th most powerful Nation: India is the fifth most powerful country in the world, says the latest national security index (NSI) designed by the country's foremost security and economic experts., the NSI is based on an assessment of defense capability, economic strength, effective population, technological capability and energy security of the top 50 countries. The US is at the top of the list on the basis of these criteria followed by China, Japan and Russia. While India ranked third in the case of population and fourth in terms of defense capabilities, it was at the 34th position in technology and 33rd in energy security.

India's gems and jewellery exports: India's gems and jewellery exports jumped 46.89 percent to $43.14 billion in the financial year ended in March 2011.

PSLV C 16: India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle- C16 placed on a 822-km sun synchronous orbit three satellites – ResourceSat – 2, an Indo-Russian YouthSat and Singapore's first satellite X Sat. The launch went off as per schedule and the satellites were placed in orbit 18 minutes after blast off from the launch pad at the Sriharikota spaceport.

India's tea exports: India's tea exports in February this year fell by almost 11 per cent to 11.93 million kg, according to the latest Tea Board data. The country had exported 13.35 million kg of tea in the year-ago period, the data said.
