Maharashtra Talathi Saza Yashada Report 2014
MAHARASHTRA Government is in the process of reorganizing Talathi Saza. In the "decisive" meeting held at Divisional Commissioner on Friday, a special committee discussed the issues involved and decided to forward a proposal regarding increasing the number of posts of Talathi in State.
The members of the committee made presentations on issues involved. It is learnt that the committee arrived at a decision to increase number of Talathi to over 3,000. Compared to the total number of Talathis today, this will be around 25 per cent increase in number of posts. Of these, around 400-450 may be created in Nagpur Division alone.
State Government had appointed a committee headed by Nagpur Divisional Commissioner to look at the issue of reorganization of Talalhi Saza in the State. At present, there are a total of 12.367 Talalhi Saza. as per the "Functional Review Report of Revenue Department' prepared by Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA). Considering the ever-increasing workload on Talathis. the organisations representing Talaihis had resorted to agitation and had sought increase in number of posts. Since then, the issue was under consideration of State Government.
Later on. the Government appointed a committee.
A top-level meeting of the committee was held earlier this year at Aurangabad to discuss the issue. Then, it was decided to meet again in Nagpur and share observations on the issues discussed. Accordingly, the 'in-camera' meeting was held at Divisional Commissioner on Friday.
