GUWAHATI: To ensure that students sitting for the HSLC and AHM examination receive their admit cards on time from the next session, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has warned the printing press that strict action will be taken against them if they fail to complete their work on time.
Shantikam Hazarika, chairman of SEBA said, "This year, there was a lot of chaos as about 3,000 students did not receive their admit cards on time because the printing press could not complete the work on time."
He also said "Though we haven't issued any legal notice to the printing press for not completing the printing on time, we have instructed them to complete the work on time for the next session otherwise strict action will be taken against them."
SEBA has started the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system this year. Examination forms are checked in computers through this system and those forms that were incomplete or had any wrong information were given provisional admit cards.
Hazarika added, "We wanted to ensure that the students do not face any difficulty in appearing for the examinations. So, they were given provisional admit cards but they will receive their original admit cards by the time the examinations get over. There have been a few hassles this time, but we will ensure that such problems are not repeated in the future."
The HSLC and AHM examination started from February 21. Around 3.66 lakh candidates are likely to appear for the examination from about 812 centres this year.
