According to district legal service cell secretary Sardar Tamboli (civil judge), "Over 25,000 cases were registered with the cell and we settled over 5,000 on Sunday Sitting at the district court was extended to Monday and over 20 cases were disposed off on the second day too."
There were 56 panels consisting of a sitting judge, lawyer, social worker and mediator for each panel who heard the cases and arrived at an amicable settlement.
The disputes were from BSNL, municipal councils, MSEB, revenue department, motor accident claims, land acquisition, pre litigation cases, labour welfare department, juvenile court cases and others.
The highlight of the Adalat was that 40 cases pertaining to the land acquisition of Bembla River Irrigation project compensation cases were settled. Motor accident claims amounting to Rs70 lakh, land acquisition cases involving Rs50 lakh and pre-litigation recovery cases amount to Rs11 lakh of BSNL and minor criminal cases related to violation of traffic rules, illegal passenger ferrying under the Motor Vehicle Act and the like amounting to Rs1 lakh were settled and the money recovered from the concerned parties.
