Aligarh Muslim University organized a Seminar on "Scientific Support in Sports and Workshop on Bio-feedback"
The Department of Physical Health and Sports Education, Aligarh Muslim University organized a 3-day National Seminar on "Scientific Support in Sports and Workshop on Bio-feedback". Addressing the inaugural session of the seminar, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, appreciated the advances made by the Department of Physical Health and Sports Education and the University Games Committee in academics, research and training. He hoped that both the departments of the University will keep working in close cooperation in order to boost the sagging standard of sports in the University.


A galaxy of resource persons like Dr. M. L. Kamlesh, well-known physical educationist and sport psychologist; Dr. S. N. Sharma, former Head of the Department of Physical Education, Punjab University, Chandigarh; Prof. Dilip Dureha of Banaras Hindu University; Dr. A. K. Uppal, former Director, LNJPE, Gwalior; Dr. Akbar Hussain, Department of Psychology, AMU and others made presentations in their specialized area of knowledge. The seminar was attended by more than 200 delegates from various parts of the Country and some of them presented research-based and theme-based papers on various aspects of the sports sciences like exercise physiology, sports psychology, biomechanics, etc.

The astounding feature of the seminar was the one-day Workshop on Bio-feedback. Dr. Reena Kaul and Dr. Anuradha Solanky, both sports psychologists from the Sports Authority of India, Kolkata and New Delhi centres respectively, practically demonstrated the use of bio-feedback instruments for collection and processing of data for research purposes.

On the concluding session, the Chairman of the Department, Prof. Ikram Hussain presented a detailed report on the Seminar highlighting the major features of the Seminar and the Workshop. Prof. Jawaid Ali, Coordinator, UGC SAP Programme (DRS-1) summed up the objectives and impact of the seminar and the workshop. Dr.Zamirullah Khan proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Syed Tariq Murtaza conducted the proceedings of the entire programme. Dr. D. K. Agarwal of the Physiology Department of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU attended the programme as a special invitee.
