Gates of Water Dams are open Bawanthadi, Totladoh


INCESSANT rain from last week has starred showing its after-effects as major irrigation projects are registering remarkable increase in water-storage. On Friday, four out of six gates of Bawanthadi Interstate irrigation Project (Rajiv Sagar) were opened. Assistant Engineer of the project G M Turkhede stated, about 339.6 cusec water storage is already there in the project against the capacity of 344.4 cusec. As a result, four out of six gates have been lifted 40 cm upwards. The Bawanthadi dam Bhandara, Seoni and Balaghat districts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh respectively.
TOTLADOH: Another inter-state project in Ramtek Tehsil Totladoh project is also registering significant increase in water storage and engineers are likely to open the doors on Friday, said Assistant Engineer Totladoha project is 84% filled to its capacity and water storage was registered 871.799 cusec on July 19 evening.
The water level has already reached up to 487.550 metres. As soon as the project will fill up to 85% of its capacity, its gates would be opened, said Kathole. Totladoh Dam is situated about 70 Kms from Nagpur and it was built between 1975 to 1985 on the Pench River near Madhya Pradesh's boarder. There is also a power project on the dam. The power generated is used by MP whereas the irrigation by Maharashtra farmers.
