Now CET For M.Tech. Admission

Now CET For M.Tech. Admission

GATE CET For MTech Admission | CET MTech Admission | New CET For M.Tech Admission.

there is a reason to smile for students who could not clear Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) to take admission in MTech. at Maharashtra's Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has decided to conduct Common Entrance Test (CET) too for such students.
Till now, students have to clear GATE to get the admission to M Tech. They did not have any option than to clear the GATE. Considering that most of the students should get a chance to do post graduation in engineering. DTE has taken this decision.
Now the students who could not clear GATE can appear in CET to he held in last week of May or by June 16. The syllabus of CET will be parallel to GATE. The examination will be of 100 marks and duration of time is 1.30 hours.
The notification is expected to be issued soon. Apart from this, the admissions for M .Tech will be conducted through Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

My score for PGECET is 39..shall i get admission in pune's college for electrical?..what is top score and rank details for electrical branch....

Anonymous said...

let us discuss about the result... what is GM ranking in DTE, and how to shortlist the colleg..

Anonymous said...

hopefully ul get any collg, cz there are many collges in pune and all have electrical..

Anonymous said...

yeah there are many colleges, but all over result is not disclosed,,what is top score, and GM is General merit(open category).
so for Open category how many total candidates appeared for electrical?
range of marks for top rankers?

GM-570 is it a good rank to secure admission in pune for open category

Anonymous said...

GM-570 oh my god.. then tho i wnt get admission, mine is GM-76.. CHEMICAL... OMS.. will i get admission? they are not coming up with option form also.. so much delay in all process

Anonymous said...

GM-76 OMG ,,good rank....definately u'll get admission..pls post updates regarding ME/MTech admissions in Pune MH state.
btw what is your score?

Anonymous said...

i got 62 score...and i read somebody got GM570.. and i got GM76. how will i get admission??
mine is 2digit rank, and ppl got in 3digit also..
mine is vry poor then.. :(

Dev said...

Anybody has got further info about the option forms? The process is getting so delayed. Are they (DTE) really prepared to carry out such CAP for ME/MTECH admissions? This is being carried out for the first time and looking at the scenario, they have failed to manage the process properly. Nobody answers on the helpline as well...What was the point in doing all this stuff?

Anonymous said...

DEV seriously this is really frustrating.. waiting and only waiting for further information...
and for the students who are not for maharashtra this is evn more frustrating , as number off seats available is not disclosed yet.

Dev said...

Yes, you are right. They haven't clarified which colleges are taking part in this process. Also we are not sure how they have decided these merit ranks? How can we compare GATE Score with CET Score? At least we have right to know whether there is some quota for CET candidates or this is just a way of gaining money from students. There are so many GATE qualified candidates waiting for the admission, how they are going to accommodate CET people? Loads of questions....that too unanswered..

Anonymous said...

i heard that in all colleges gate qualified seats will be filled up first and then on remaining seats will be from CET.

soon pune universitie's BE result will be declared ..may be after that CAP will start. what are the scores in different branches?...will score 35-40 will get admission?

GM(generel merit list)-98 as can i get addmission in VJTI or COEP in power system...
please infrom me my mail id srikanthbattu2012@gmail.com

Dev said...

I don't understand why the authorities from DTE are not putting just a single line notification on website to mention the status of the CAP. @Srikanth battu- for the first time admissions are being carried out through CAP. So cannot predict where you stand as GM-98. Lets hope, you would make it...

aditi said...

Yup yaar why they are not precisely displaying the date for m.tech councelling.so that we would not worried so much...??? even they won't answer in the given helpline number.!!!just hope this councelling is going to start till the end of june, is there really a reservation quota for cet student or they playing wd our emotion..b'coz as i talk to other college of maharashtra, they told that their branches seat is almost over by gate student..!!!

Anonymous said...

http://fileserver.mkcl.org/ME2013/OasisModules_Files/Files/27.pdf?did=784

This shows, till 2nd July,we are not going to receive any details regarding option forms and available courses/institutes etc.

They should have done this long ago...is this a time to do these things?

Anonymous said...

DEV but what exactly is wriiten there? Why the do not publish notification in english, which would be understood by all

Dev said...

According to that notification, all the institutes offering ME/MTECH have been asked to inform/update/check/correct their intake capacity and courses available to the DTE by 1st July, 5 PM. Based upon this updated and verified info only admission process will begin.

Now tell me, were all they sleeping before? June is almost over and now they are asking institutes to do this task on priority basis so that admissions could be carried out properly. What kind of system is this? They should be accountable to someone....nobody is asking and hence nobody is bothered...meanwhile students are suffering...

Anonymous said...

THANKS DEV... ohh u knw i am an outstation applicant, atlest these lazy elephants should have declare the schedule so that i students could book the tickets.. and on priroty to pune, i have left my delhi session.. what else they expect me to do, drop Mtech this year..!!!

Somebody should seriously govern them, how to tackle responsibilities ..

Anonymous said...

hey dev i m not getting this line properly please tell me what it actually want to say

The Option/Preference Form just submitted, but not confirmed by the candidate himself/herself will not be processed for allotment for CAP Round - I.

Dev said...

Hello friend(should I say anonymous),

I didn't get from where did you find such comment..it must be about admissions of BE through MTCET result, I guess. Please clarify.

Anyways, the comment you mentioned means, just by submitting your option/preference form online doesn't mean you are done with the CAP round proceedings. You have to confirm the same form(either online or by going in person to ARC, whatever is suggested by authorities) to complete the admission process from your end.

I hope, this was useful. please let us know about which CAP Round-I , you are talking about.

Anonymous said...

no dear its not about the admission about BE.it is one of the instruction line( 16 point) to fill the option form for PGET-CET which has been loaded day before yesteraday..i think u just check it out ur id n login yourself, there u find it out..

Dev said...

Hello,

Yes. I checked it with my login. Thanks for the same. Lets hope, the process will begin soon and end with smile on our faces..

Anonymous said...

wat is meant by that?? all those who gave exam are eligible na???

i tried calling at the number gvn at last, but no response came.. plz ppl keep trying at the number, so that we can share our head-ace with them too..

aditi said...

yaa yaar no one answer on the given helpline number..!!why they have given this helpline number if they dont want to response.

yup to my knoweledege all those ppl who had given this exam are eligible for cap round.

Dev said...

Hey friends, Please don't worry about the eligibility and all stuffs related to it. All of us have confirmed and verified the documents at ARCs. So please don't get worried unnecessarily.

I think, within next two days, we should expect the admission notification from DTE(at least before end of this week).

And about those helpline numbers, from day 1 of this process, there is no response from them. There is no point to be hopeful about it. We can just hope, that CAP would begin soon and let it be uncomplicated, simple and fair admission process.

Anonymous said...

so lazines n delay in councelling..wht would we expect from dte???

Dev can u plz translate wat is written for Part time Mtech?? plz

Dev said...

Hello Friends!

I can very well understand your frustration. I was hoping to see a notification from DTE by this weekend, but once again they have proved themselves to be hopeless.

Anyways, about the Part time MTech, DTE is asking to Institutes to carry out the admissions(for part tine ME/MTech) on their own. DTE is going to conduct CAP round only for the First year of Full Time ME/MTech.

Thats all that notification says. I wish,at least within next day or two, there will be some news(good news?)for us from DTE. Have nice time.

aditi said...

yeah frinds we can only hope from dte ..

My General Merit is 209 -Gate Qualified....What are my chances...

suraj which branch?

Dev said...

Does anyone have idea about how the General Merit List has been prepared.I want to know, whether this GM merit rank considers all category candidates(like OPEN,reserved,sponsored,Non-sponsored etc.)and then according to the score the merit list is prepared, OR this is just a list of OPEN category candidates and Reserved candidates will get separate merit no.?

It appears to be an absurd doubt , right? but please clarify, if anyone has clear idea about it.
Thanks in advance.

Just want 2 thank u guys 4 posting ur thoughts and experience about CAP for M.Tech course. I got a great relief after going through the thread as i was also having the same queries and was not getting any accurate blog to gather relevant info and as u all know... all helpline numbers are just good for nothing.
We can just hope the process to get declared atleast till this weekend.

@Shipra- Well said..Lets hope for the best.

It's such a relief to find this thread! I'm an OMS candidate and I was starting to wonder if the DTE people had already finished with the admissions and forgot to update it online..I mean, c'mon, seriously! These people won't answer the helplines and once in a blue moon when they do answer, all they say is, "we haven't received any intimation yet..keep checking the site"..well I'm kinda running low on patience now!

Any updates as to when the option form filling will begin?
Can anybody from Maharashtra please approach these DTE authorities and find out exactly what is going on?
Aren't the M.Tech classes supposed to start by this month end?
Your thoughts everyone!

aditi said...

hey deepthi,

for all those query we need to wait... well we just hope that soon we get some new notification within this week.

rest all depend on DTE,until they won't update, we can't say anything.

anyways about those helpline number no one answer even i tried many times.
so just don't worry dear .till yet they have not finished with the admission..

hope this councelling start soon.n end with huge smile on our face.

Dev said...

Hello friends!finally something to cheer for! DTE has declared the notification regarding admission process. Please visit the website.

Let us share and discuss all the queries, doubts regarding the process here, if any.

Anonymous said...

Why is the Gate-Sponsored and PGCET-Sponcered and NRI admissions happening first?

Dev said...

simple logic my friend! They get more money from these candidates! fees are high for sponsored candidates, always they get preference in admission process!

But my doubt how will they handle vacancies? I mean, there is no chance of betterment in options in the prescribed CAP. If one is not allotted highest preferred choice will he/she get a chance to go for another round?

Deepthi said...

I don't think there will be any betterment option ...in fact all NIT and IIT admissions are almost over...so once allotted, I think there is a very low chance that someone is gonna drop out of the process..hence I'm guessing there's only gonna be that one allotment!

Dev said...

@Deepthi- good point.
But as per my understanding, NIT 4th round allotment will be declared after we fill the options for CAP round III. I expect considerable decrease/drop in cut-off for NIT 4th round, as many have surrendered their seats after 3 rd CCMT counselling round, to take chances/risk (if they can get better NIT/course through 4th round)OR many top rankers would prefer IITs. Therefore there may be a chance same candidate will get good NIT through CCMT and college like COEP through CAP,if at all he/she appears in both. This will lead to generation of vacancies. How they will be handled?

I think, information brochure would have given clear idea about this. But I didn't find any such brochure on DTE website.

Suraj said...

Hi Dev and others!!

As u said there is no clarity regarding the seats that would remain vaccant in the first round itself...A student who is already selected at NIT or IIT may also select a particular college here as well just for the sake of doing it(since it can be done online by sitting at home)...But they wont be taking admission there.... thereby creating a vacancy..So do they mean that the Gate qualified candidates who selected that option would have to settle down with his next preference which he got?? I don think so... there is something more into it.. and theres no brochure to refer to...

Dev said...

@Suraj- you have correctly pin-pointed the issue. I hope, as u said, there must be something more into it, which would give students like us (which are totally dependent on this CAP) fair chance to get our preferred institute/course.

Anonymous said...

i am gate qualified with GM 140. plz tell me has anyone filled the option form because i hav not yet filled it .

Dev said...

@Anonymous- Don't get so worried. Form filling is yet to begin.Today evening, there will be display of provisional seat distribution of institutes. Follow the timetable mentioned on website and fill in option form on appropriate dates assigned for your category(i,e GATE sponsored/Non-sponsored/CET etc.)

Anonymous said...

Kunal said...

Hey friends, do u have any idea about informatiom brochure, bcoz in the notification they mention to refer online information brochure but i can't find such thing on dte website. please help.

Deepthi said...

The information brochure has been put up on the web site.

Dev said...

I had gone through that brochure and this is really frustrating to know how this procedure of CAP will be followed. candidate has not been given a single chance to look for the option of betterment.

Are this people (organizing CAP) have gone mad? There cannot be a single admission process in INDIA which will go as smooth as these DTE people expect. How can there be not a single person who will turn down the offer he has got? and in such scenario, there will be a vacancy. How can they decide to forward this vacant seat to next round without allowing deserving candidate to claim that seat?

DTE has delayed this process on their own. To compensate their delay, they are shortening this process. is it fair to play with students lives?

I would urge to all GATE qualified candidates, if they have secured good GATE score and if they are not willing to take admission in any of the institutes offering seats through this CAP, please do not participate in CAP OR at least don't fill the options in which you will definitely not join. This could be the only way by which no. of cancellation would be reduced.

And after reading brochure, one obvious question in my mind, why the hell they conducted this PGET-CET?

I expect various opinions/thoughts over this.

Suraj said...

Hi Dev...

Plzz refer to page 19 STAGE E of the information brochure. It seems they have provided the option for betterment of seats ,unlike the way it was presumed by many of us.Please have a look..

Dev said...

@Suraj-Yes, I read the thing which you mentioned. I guess, you are talking about the term called "Upward Shift". As you said, there seems to be a chance of automatic upgradation. I was just worried about the fact that once we fill in the option form, there is nothing left in our hand. Anyways,at least Something is better than nothing.Lets hope to be luckiest.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestion.

Dev said...

@Anjali Joshi-All I can say, as you haven't appeared in PGET-CET 2013 and don't hold valid GATE score, it is not possible for you to participate in these CAP rounds. But I think, you may get admission at institute level, if any vacancies are left after all the rounds of CAP. Please try to get detailed info about the same. As of now, I don't have any.

Anonymous said...

i m not getting this word upward shift...please someone tell mee.....!!!

Deepthi said...

Nobody does my dear! Hopefully it has something to do with an automatic upgradation from a lower preference to a higher preference (eg.-from option 2 to option 1), but I've no clue as to how they are going to do it!

Anonymous said...

thanks deepthi to clear my query..

Hi Guys which all colleges are you planning to take admission..
Anyone here from Mumbai or Pune?

YEs, even I would like to know if anybody was eligible for round I and had been allotted a seat.

@Suraj- I am from Mumbai.What about you?

Suraj said...

Hi Dev me too from Mumbai...had u applied for any institute level seats anywhere? whats ur merit?

Dev said...

Hello Suraj ,I haven't applied for any Institute level seats. my merit rank, for GATE Non-Sponsored category is GM-60. What is yours and how are you going about this admission process?

Suraj said...

@ Dev Thats a wonderful score.. In fact u can afford to wait for CAP rounds... I had applied to some institutes.... Which stream are you from..? Am from EC..

Dev said...

@Suraj- Even I from GATE ECE. You know it better bro, either you should have top rank so that you can get anything u want, or very poor so that you know what to expect. The rank such as mine, makes condition miserable..heheheh...I wish, all who are posting here would get at least the stream in which they want to pursue MTech, if not the college.

Anonymous said...

hi friends,
i would lyk to know while filling the option form, how we know that we are eligible for that paticular object or we just sure that we will precisely get that college..?????

Dev said...

I think, we would be allowed to fill only those options for which we are eligible to take admission. This will get clear once the option form is made available to us.

And about the surety of getting particular college, Nobody can guarantee the same. It depends on your judgement(how you place the options) and of course, Luck.

Anonymous said...

thanks dev.. yeah it will get more clear after getting the option form...

I'm GATE Non Sponsored candidate....GM-481....mechanical branch....which college can i get in mumbai-pune or nearby....

Just FYI(For Your Information).
please check following URL (who can read Marathi).

http://www.loksatta.com/mumbai-news/me-mtech-admission-get-students-to-sense-of-injustice-152258/

Suraj said...

Hello Dev... Could you please explain it in short in case you understood. Thanks in advance...

Dev said...

Hello Suraj! It is just about a leading Marathi newspaper taking a note of issues GATE qualified students are facing during the current ME/MTech admission process. In short they have criticized DTE for their poor management which leads to the loss of students.

They have emphasized the need of another round of betterment for GATE students, as no. of seats are going to remain vacant after few top students confirm their admissions into NITs/IITs. Only one round is not sufficient.

Also, to make process transparent, DTE should have published proper merit list, so that candidates would have got idea about how many students (and of what category) are ahead or behind his/her own rank. Just declaring General Merit Rank won't serve the purpose.

This was the summary of that article and I guess, we all have discussed the same on this blog. Let us hope, some concrete solution would be found on this issue. We are left with only one thing as of now, FILL THE OPTIONS PROPERLY. That's it!

Deepthi said...

Is the option filling link for gate non-sponsored candidates active yet?

Suraj said...

@ Dev... Thanks for the translation.
Even though dte has mentioned about the betterment rounds in Round 3,it isn't very clear as to how they are going to take it forward.

The link for gate non sponsored is not yet opened .Its 5 17 PM IST now..

Deepthi said...

The link is active...but the option form shows every single course in the universe! Not just the ones we are eligible for..
Its like we have to sort out which one we are eligible for and then apply! WTH is this!

Dev said...

Hello Deepthi, I didn't find any link. Neither option form nor the seats available for Round III.

Deepthi said...

They took it off now..It was available for a very short period..only the option filling link...the seat matrix wasn't put up..Anyways they've taken down everything now...hopefully they'll put it up again after a while..

Anonymous said...

than what about our cet non sponsered yaar..is there enough seat remain vacant for us..!!!

Anonymous said...

@ deepthi how does we know that we know that we r eligible for n how would we apply?????

Deepthi said...

They have put up the link now..but the seat matrix has still not been put up...
We are supposed to refer to the eligibility criteria and see if we are eligible for a particular course before opting for that course..
I'm of civil engineering discipline and if I opt for VLSI(Which is not an M.Tech for Civil) by mistake, its my loss when the allotments are published!

Honestly I've never seen an option filling process such as this one!

Dev said...

please refer to "Annexure IX:Eligibility Criteria" published under the section 'Important Links" to know for which streams we are eligible to apply and accordingly select options.

These DTE people must have not got time to introduce filters in the form so that only those options would be visible to candidate for which he is eligible to apply. Anyways, at least they have started the process, that's enough.

And though the option form is unlocked, they haven't yet published the list of vacant seats. Let us hope, they publish it as soon as possible.

Suraj said...

Hi dude...Some colleges have the rights to admit 20% of their total intake seats by their own means..these seats dont fall under CAP..Such colleges are required to publish their admission details in at least 2 leading newspapers...The applicants who apply for these are allotted seats on the basis of their GATE/PGCET Score merit wise..

Dev said...

Please check the website..DTE has published provisional seat distribution for round III- GATE Non-Sponsored candidates.

about taking direct admission without CAP, I think, we need to check college website individually. Honestly, I have very little idea about it. As you said, D.Y.Patil has given notification. Similarly we need to check for other colleges. If I get any detailed info, I would surely post here. Till then, please try to check on college website.

PLZ TELL ME
I M OMS CET NON SPOSERED CANDIDATE

Suraj said...

Anyone here who made it to VJTI or COEP?

Dev said...

@Deepthi-Heartiest congratulations. COEP town planning is wonderful course.

@Suraj- I got into VJTI(ELectronics). and about your query,What are they gonna do if not even a single seat gets allotted to a gate qualified candidate among the options kept....I think, such candidate will hold any chance only in round V, if at all any vacancy left.

Personally, I feel, there should be one more round to such GATE candidates, to claim the vacant seats remained after Round III. But everything is in hand of ALMIGHTY DTE. Lets hope for the best, so that all GATE and CET candidates would have better prospects....

Deepthi said...

@Dev

Thank You so much...I really wanted this course! All thanks to God! :)

And congrats to you too :)

aditi said...

hey guys congrats to dev , deepthi and for getting your favorite colleges...

i hope our cet non sponsered round is also going to rock n all candidate get their dream course..

Anonymous said...

Hi Deepti:- do you have any idea about COEP rule...let me know....do they prefer full time candidates..or what...because i m working and non sponsered category.....so i m thinking shall i Give COEP as first option or some other college for electrical....i heard that they dont grant term if attendance is not there..and they dont allow working candidate who can not devote time for college ...pls help me,,,after 2 days i have to fill up option form.....r u working?

Deepthi said...

I don't know much about COEP. I'm an outside Maharashtra candidate and non-sponsored. And no, I'm not currently working.
I think you should call up the college and enquire.
Good luck!

Dev said...

@Aditi-Thanks a lot. I do wish, you all would get desired courses/colleges. Please fill your options carefully. Keep order of preference in such a way that you would not feel later that I should have give this option first.

From my own experience, I am telling, I was more inclined towards COEP. and looking at cut-off I could have got few courses there easily. Its because of my order of preference I got into VJTI. Please keep the same in your mind and proceed. ALL THE BEST.

@anonymous- as Deepthi suggested, even I feel you should contact COEP authorities to clear your doubt. In my view, I think they won't give such concession to candidate as mentioned by you.Full time attendance is mandatory. Please check the same.

i am sorry suraj and dev, theres some misunderstanding of u guys about institute level seats...20% seats r avail for college itself..and brochere says that these admisions will b done on qualifyling exams merit(be percentage) n not by pgcet or get....but it must b done through paper advertjsements....so it will be managment quata in short...all colleges hav these facilities for mang quota except government and government autonomous....even unaided auto nomous r having 20 % seats... pushkar

Dev said...

No need to say Sorry Pushkar... It is really good that you have shared this info with us. I appreciate you efforts. Hopefully, you would get an opportunity to avail these 20% seats, if at all, you are looking for the same. BEST OF LUCK!

aditi said...

hey dev how much option should i fill up for round 4???do u have any idea of cutt off marks pgcet for vjti n coep??

n tell me while filling the option form we need to check ug and cet eligibility criteria any thing else we should keep in mind during filling the option form!!!!1

Dev said...

Hello Aditi!

As you said, checking the eligibility criteria is most important thing. And about filling up options for round 4, nobody can give you the idea about cut-off marks of PGET-CET for any of the college in Maharashtra, as this process is being carried out for the first time. There would be no CET from next year onwards. Only GATE Score would be considered. So you need to go with your General merit rank only. I can suggest you few things regarding the same.

First of all, make a list of colleges you are interested in(Like VJTI,COEP,VIT Pune, MIT Kothrud etc.) check the eligibility criteria, check the ratings of college-accreditation-placements, more importantly college faculty(at least how many PhD holders are there)etc. Make your own list with preferences. Then follow the Vacancy list that will be published by DTE after the completion of Round III. The no. of vacant seats available in the colleges included in your list should be at least 50% more than your general merit rank, to be on safer side. i.e. if your merit rank is 60..please fill no. of options to include at least 90 seats, so that you would left assured of getting seat. Accordingly, you may add few more college options in your Option form.

I wish, this is somewhat helpful to you. Nevertheless, you are the better person to judge your position than anyone else. ALL THE BEST!

Dev said...

Once again congratulations to All who have secured admission till Round III. I would like to know if everyone of you have been asked to fill Anti-Ragging affidavit or not.I think it is compulsory.

If yes, then please let me know, whether it is to be notarized on stamp paper, or just an affidavit would serve the purpose. Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

aditi said...

thanks dev for your nice suggestion...but i m not clear with..what u saying about vacant seat plz make me some more clear..it will b helpful to mee.

r u saying me to fill more no of option!!!!!

Dev said...

Hello Aditi!
Vacant seats are the no. of seats remained vacant after the completion of round III, right? As per the CAP, the seats remaining vacant would be offered to CET non-sponsored candidates. So as most of the students would have taken admission in reputed colleges such as COEP, VJTI...in those colleges very less no. of seats would be available for you. In that sense, I wanted to say, please check no. of vacant seats for which you can apply, and give sufficient no. of options so that you can secure an admission..Once again ALL THE BEST!

what is the complete process... how many time will it take after filling the option form?? do i need to stay in maharastra after filling the options form?/?

all those who have gone through 1,2,3 round must be knowing this please reply

ill have to book my tickets.. oms

Deepthi said...

@Dev,
Yes, it has to be a notary from a real court on a 100Rs. stamp paper..No other go.

I joined COEP on the 24th. It took around 4 hours to complete all the procedures! Its hectic and unnecessary in my opinion.

@Priya
You can fill the option form online from anywhere in the world and if you get allotted a seat, only then you'll have to go to Maharashtra. Otherwise you don't have to.

Book your tickets in prior..that's the only way it can be done since there isn't much time gap between option filling, allotment and joining the college...I booked my tickets in prior.
You can always cancel the tickets if you are not there in the allotment list.

@Aditi
Thank You :)

Good luck to everyone!!

Dev said...

@Deepthi- Thanks a lot. I guess, classes will commence from 1st of Aug.

DEV AND DEEPTHI PLS TELLI WANT WHAT MORE DOCUMENTS WE NEED TO CARRY AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION ???????

DID ALL U HAVE UR ADMIT CARD DULLY SIGN BY ARC OFFICER....IS IT SO NECESSARY TO HAVE????????

Dev said...

@Aditi- Sorry for the delayed reply.I couldn't check this blog for 2 days.
Congrats. Where did u get admission and for which course? I don't think anybody gets the scorecard by Post. It was available online only.

About the documents to be carried, you must have following documents.
1) Application cum Receipt (which you would have got when you visited ARC last time.
2) All passing certificates(10th, 12th and final year degree) xerox and originals.
3)Nationality and domicile
4)D.D and its xerox
5)CET/GATE score card original and xerox
6) Proforma I
7)proforma D if you are GATE candidate
8)at least one recent photograph
9)Printout of your provisional allotment.
10)cast certi and validity/non creamylayer certy, if applicable.

I guess, these would be sufficient.

priya said...

@aditi,
yaar u got a nice collg as per i think
and besides u have got a good stream, mtech will help ethr in job or teaching

aditi said...

thank u so much priya.. hope u will soon get a dream college of ur choice....

Dev said...

@Aditi-First of all, thanks for the compliments. Its my pleasure to be of help to someone. Lokmanya Tilak, Koparkhairane is good college. I mean, even if it is not too good, it is not very bad either. If you have no other option than to pursue M.Tech and you don't want to waste another year, It is pretty safe to continue with this option.

and about the documents, I have mentioned what I was asked to produce and I think those documents are sufficient. Still, to be on safer side, I recommend you to contact L.T.college authorities and be assured. I am happy to know you have been allotted a seat in your desired stream. Enjoy 2 years of M.Tech. You will surely do something better! Good Luck!

Dev said...

@Priya-Congrats for getting an admission offer. But I am really sorry to know that by mistake, you didn't arrange your options properly.

I have already mentioned this on the blog to be careful about the order of preference. VIT is surely better than AISSMS. but I did some google search, visited college website and also asked few friends. From whatever info I have got,I feel it is good college. It is also located in the central area of City and offers decent placements.

If you are left with only option and that is to pursue M.Tech. then I think, you should go with this. Forget about what happened, look forward to things and join the college. Afterall, your efforts will be paid off!ALL THE BEST!

aditi said...

yup dev i thought to continue with L.T....but my friends n family r not so satisfy by this college... so i m quiet worried abt it......well i knw i don't have any other option...

i m a dropper...do u think i should take drop 1 more times n took the college next year......????????

aditi said...

dev do u have any info abt L.T placements n do ur's have any knowledge abt it?????

wht not so gud abt pls let mee know!!!!!!

dev have u submit GAP CERTIFICATE???/

Dev said...

Hello Aditi, I was not asked to submit any GAP Certificate.

about L.T. college, yes, it is true that L.T. is not such a college that everybody would have dreamt of to get into for pursuing M.tech. But looking at our situation, we should make choice.

It would not make any difference if you take one more year drop and prepare for GATE very well. Question is will it be feasible for you and your family or not. If you are OK with it and your family is supportive then I would recommend to prepare one more year.

But if you feel, its hightime and you should move on, then we are in the same boat. We are left with no other option, but to go with whatever we have got and make the most of it. one suggestion I can add, after joining college, you would be in touch with your subjects, prepare for GATE as well at the same time and give it a shot in next FEB. that study will assist you in your academics as well. If you crack it ,then what can be better thing than that, and if unfortunately you don't then also your one year wouldn't be wasted.

If you ask my honest opinion, L.T. is good college with average placements. you may always try off-campus. If you do very well for the next two years, there would be no stopping for you, only thing is you would struggle a bit initially,if you don't get campus placements. Think about all the aspects and take final call. and once you decide don't look back. Have faith on your abilities, rest will fall at its plcae. Good luck!

Dev said...

@Suraj- I wish, you would have joined somewhere for ME/MTech. If not, I wish you all the best for further rounds/whatever you are pursuing.

aditi said...

ok dev got ur words.

Suraj said...

@Dev.. Yes I have taken Admission in Sardar Patel Institute of Technology ..via institute level admissions... I think you myt be well aware about the injustice meted out towards the Gate qualified candidates... We werent allowed to take part in round 4, unlike the way it happens every year and in every state that conducts CET ... thereby missing out on my chances with VJTI.....

@Aditi----regarding BTECH Placements of Lokmanya ..(i think Mtech guys are allowed along wid Btech)

In 2010 there were 26 companies visiting the campus and placing approx. 166 students.

2009 was a bad year, with almost NO placements, but otherwise about 75% of people do get placed comfortably. Larsen and Toubro is one of the major hirers. Average salary is about 3 lac p.a.

I would strongly recommend on what DEV suggested..that instead of taking another gap..u can write GATE again in 2014 while studying in Lokmanya ..and try for other options depending on the gate result...

@ Dev.. Do u have any idea regarding withdrawal from institutes after 1 year of Mtech.. i know that the stipend amount earned needs to be returned ..but can any institute forcibly hold the certificates which we submit now thereby causing troubles?? Chances are rare.. but just a small concern..in case u have any idea..

priya said...

@dev thanks yaar

ya i made a mistake. but i just did that because i thought vit fees is quite high
but my bad luck, thus yr i guess fess is common fr all institute..
:(
don knw ill get placed or not again ftr btech.. :(

Dev said...

@Suraj- Thanks a lot for sharing the information regarding the L.T. college, koparkhairane. It was useful to all of us.

yes, about the admission process. It was really disappointing. Even I was hoping for COEP. due to preference of branch I opted for VJTI. Otherwise in further rounds I could have got my preferred stream @COEP as well. Thats how the process is and we have to go by it.

whatever you shared about withdrawal after one year, thats absolutely correct. Apart from giving back stipend, there is no other issue. Institute will definitely give you back all the certificates. As I guess, you must be thinking of joining college and appearing for GATE again, that is wise choice you have made. Go with it. And whatever you have got right now, thats also not bad either. I am happy for you. All the Best for your bright future!

priya said...

@ dev suraj deepti aditi
can anybody explain me exact process for 5th round?
there is a link on DTE wbsite od IMPORTANT DATES.. there it is written that in round 5th student need to report on 2nd aug to institute..

there wnt be same process as of round 4th??

i am planing to take risk, as my cet score is good..
hope it works

Dev said...

@Priya- Please see page no. 37 of Information brochure available on website. It is mentioned there in the table as-
"Candidate has to confirm the admission, if
he/she gets allotment of any one of the
options exercised by him/her, such
candidate will not be able to participate
in the subsequent rounds of CAP i.e
Rounds II, III, IV, V irrespective of the
fact that such candidate confirms the
admission or not."

Thus I request you to check with the institute and DTE, whether you will be allowed to surrender the allotted seat in CAP IV and participate in round V. I don't think the information brochure suggests the same. What I understood is, if you don't confirm this admission @AISSMS, you are out of CAP process. Then you have only chance to take admission after completion of round V, at institute level, if at all there are any vacant seats.

Please check out on these possibilities and take right decision.
@All-Please correct me, if I have mentioned something wrong and help priya to make her decision ASAP.

priya said...

@dev
thanks yaar
yeah i had to take admission, instead of getting 52 in cet, i filed aissms and missed vit, where the lowest was 44..

bad luck, now all lost have taken admission.. all bull shit

Suraj said...

@ Dev ..Thanks buddy Wish you the same...

Are you sure about the commencement of classes from 1st...that is tomorrow? Any notifications regarding this from your college or any other college? Please do let us know in case of any news or confirmation...

priya said...

@ EVERY ONE
what is scope of doing mtech/me
plz discuss

Dev said...

@Suraj- I had gone to VJTI today. It was half day today. But they said, from tomorrow onwards college will begin as per schedule(we have been provided timetable).

@Priya- I feel really sorry to know about your admission. But don't regret it too much mam. same was the my case. I missed COEP and had to settle down with VJTI even though having good score. Ultimately, what you gain in next two years will make the difference. Try whole-heartedly,don't lose confidence. I am sure you will do better.

Just for eg., Look at IIT Guwahati placements. Even being an Old IIT, the 'IIT' tag doesn't give their all M.Tech students 100% placements. SO why to cry with COEP,VJTI,VIT? It depends on market conditions when you will be passed out. SO take this positively and enjoy next 2 years of M.Tech./M.E
Postgraduate degree will surely add some weight to your resume. Make the most of it. Once again Good Luck!

hey guys i took the admission in lokmaya tilak college. well colg was gud , it having phd holders..n abt placement they told that they provide 70% placement.

Dev said...

Hello Aniket! Glad to know that you have secured the admission in LT. Enjoy the 2 years of MTech.

About our stipend, AICTE has already published the notification. Now its upto Institutions, how early they fill up the respective forms for eligible candidates. As of now, we cannot do anything, but to wait and watch. I guess, 25th Sept is the last date given by AICTE to complete the formalities. I hope, all the Institutes will take care of it and we would get our stipends in time.
