Bangalore University to sign MoU with Georgia College and State University

If you are a management student in Bangalore University (BU), chances are that next year, you will be attending an online class by a professor from Georgia College and State University. This will be made possible after Bangalore University signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Georgia College, according to an announcement here on Sunday.

Academic delegations from either sides participated in an interaction, during which they identified areas of interest.

Tom Ormond, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, Georgia College, said that the intention was to share knowledge, resources and expertise.

One of the offerings is the online classroom. Jan Flynn, Associate Professor of Management, said: “I teach International Management. The idea is to bring students from my classroom into Bangalore, and vice-versa, with the help of real-time high definition television.”

There is a “summer discovery workshop” on the anvil too, which would work as an exchange programme, as well as an international study tour for MBA students in May 2012.

The prospect of widening the scope of the four-year BS course offered by Bangalore University, and of postgraduate courses in business administration, management information systems, and accountancy and law were discussed.

Whether the collaboration, which might be integrated in the next academic year, would impact the fee structure, Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhu Dev said, “We will ensure that the collaboration is student and faculty-friendly.” Bangalore University officials are expected to visit Georgia College soon, following which the MoU will be signed.
