Tadoba National Park,  

"The Jewel of Vidharba", the Tadoba National Park lies in the district of Chandrapur in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra. Located in the heart of a reserved forest, it is an infinite treasure trove of innumerable species of trees and plants - and wildlife that includes tigers, panthers, sloth bears, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, bison, barking deer, nil gai, sambar, and cheatal. In fact, the Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Santuary together form the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. The park derives its name from "Taru" the local deity, whereas the Andhari river that meanders through the forest gives the sanctuary its name. Flora: Teak, Ain, Bija, Dhaoda, Bamboo, Haldu, Arjun, Tendu, Salai, Jamun, Mahua. Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Sloth bear, Wild dog, Jackal, Sambar, Indian Bison, Barking Deer, Blue Bull, Spotted Deer, Chausingha, Ratel, Flying Squirrel, Wild Boar, Langur.

Weather:

Winter is from December to February. This is followed by summer from March to May and the monsoon season is from June to September, and the post-monsoon season is from October and November.

Best time to visit : February to May.

Note:

Tadoba forest is closed for Safari on every Tuesday.

Getting there:

The nearest airport is Nagpur (140 km via Umrer, Bhisi and Chimur).

The nearest railway station is Chandrapur (on the Delhi-Madras main line) 45 kms away.

Nearest main bus stand is Chandrapur and Chimur (32 km).

वाघांसाठी प्रसिध्द असलेल्या चंद्रपूर जिल्ह्यातील ताडोबा व्याघ्रप्रकल्पामध्ये आता प्रवेशासाठी ऑनलाईन बुकिंग करावी लागणार आहे. या सेवेचे उद््घाटन वन्यजीव विभागाचे प्रधान मुख्य वनसंरक्षक एस.डब्ल्यू एच. नकवी यांनी केले.

मागील महिन्यात ५ ऑगस्टला वनखाते व महाऑनलाईन यांच्यात या संदर्भातील करार झाला. यावेळी महाऑनलाईनचे मुख्य अधिकारी सतनामसिंह, ताडाबो अंधारी व्याघ्र प्रकल्पाचे क्षेत्र संचालक एन.एम. रेड्डी, गोंदियाचे मुख्य वनसंरक्षक गुरमे यांच्या उपस्थितीत हा करार झाला. या सेवेमुळे देशविदेशातील पर्यटकांना आता इंटरनेटच्या माध्यमातून ऑनलाईन आरक्षण करता येणार आहे. ऑनलाईनच्या माध्यमातून केवळ ७0 टक्के आरक्षण दिले जाणार आहे. तर, १५ टक्के अतिविशिष्ट कोटा ठेवण्यात आला आहे. सध्या ताडोबा व इतर सर्व प्रकल्प ३0 सप्टेंबरपर्यंत बंद आहेत. या काळात केवळ दहा गाड्या सोडण्यात येत आहेत. ऑनलाईन बुकिंग हाऊसफुल्ल झाले नसेल, तर पर्यटकांना प्रवेशद्वारावर प्रवेश तिकीट मिळण्याची सुविधाही राहणार आहे.
