IIIT, NIT Admission 2012-2013 JEE (Main) Compulsory


JEE (Main) is compulsory for admission to National Institute of Technology (NIT). Indian Institute of Information and Technology (HIT) and other engineering colleges. But. IIT aspirants will have to appear in another examination after JEE (Main). The name of the examination is IIT (Advance). As per the formula, marks scored by aspirants in JEE (Main) will decide 60% of the marks needed for admission to the NITs and the IIITs, and their score in Class 12 hoard examination will he the basis for the rest 40% marks.
The eligibility criteria and other details of the format was announced. The examination will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Now. the students will have to appear in JEE (Main) and the marks scored in this examination will count for 50% of the score needed for admission. The other 50% marks will be based on their score in the Class 12 board examination.
Top 1.50.000 students of JEE (Main) will be eligible to appear in the JEE (Advance) examination. They should also he among the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 board exams conducted by their respective states. Other detailsabout the ITT(Main) examination announced on Friday include eligibility requirement regarding date of bblh. Aspirants must have been born on or after October 01, 1988 to be eligible for IIT (Main) examination. Further, aspirants should have passed their Class 12 exam or any other qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012. Those who are appearing in their Class 12 exam or any other qualifying examination in 2013 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2013 examination. Unlike some other states, Maharashtra government has already declared thai they would participate in this examination only in the year 2014. So Maharashtra students have to appear tor three official examinations to get admission in engineering college. The confusion still reigns supreme about the so-called change in the pattern.

According to one parent. Human Resource Development Ministry said that there would be no two examinations for the admissions. There were AIEEE for the admission to NITs and IIITs and I1T-JEE for admission to IITs. In present formal, if one has to take admission in NITs and IIITs. then they have to appear in JEE (Main) and for IITs, ihey would appear in JEE (Main). Earlier. students had to appear in AIEEE. State CET and other entrance examinations for admission to engineering colleges. Multiple tests can now he avoided as students will be giving just JEE (Main) exam.
