Southern states are still the frontrunners when it comes to establishing medical colleges.
The latest data with the Medical Council of India (MCI) reveals that among the total number of proposals received for establishing medical colleges, maximum were from Andhra Pradesh, followed by Tamil Nadu for this academic year.
According to the regulatory body, among the total 77 applications for setting up medical colleges and 51 proposals for increase of seats in existing colleges, maximum applications, 16 of them, were received from Andhra Pradesh (AP) alone.
Out of the 128 proposals, 20 for setting up new medical colleges and 24 for increase of seats in existing medical colleges have been approved.
