Maharashtra Government 200 New Posts Recruitment 


FACING severe staff crunch of senior officers in Revenue Department, the Maharashtra Government has approved creation of new posts in the ranks of Deputy Collectors and Additional Collector. While the number of new Deputy Collectors post would be 600 those of Additional Collectors would be 200. This is die single highest increase in number of officials in the Revenue Department, the backbone of Government.
Revenue Department not lied creation of 67 posts of Additional Collectors (Selection Grade). 133 posts of Additional Collectors. 200 posts of Deputy Collectors (Selection Grade) and 400 posts of Deputy Collectors. It may be mentioned (hat Maharashtra Government had sanctioned 409 posts of Deputy Collectors in September, 1981. It may be mentioned that Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS). Food and Civil Supply. Rehabilitation and Election Department also have deputy Collectors, therefore, total number of deputy collectors was 514 in the state at that time.
Maharashtra Government had created 79 posts of Additional Collectors in January 1992. Recently. the Government had created post of Additional Collector in Gosikhurd project. The State has total 80 sanctioned posts of Additional Collectors. The Government has created 15 posts of Additional Collectors to head SC/ST Caste Verification Committees. The state has total 95 posts of Additional Collector (Selection grade).
The Deputy Collector cadre is a feeder cadre for promotions at Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and other important posts of stale cadre. There are 91 posts available for IAS category from Deputy Collector cadre and 15 posts for other important posts of state cadre.
It may be mentioned that various boards. corporations, administrative departments are demanding Deputy Collectors and Additional Collectors on deputation due to their vast administrative experience in Revenue Department. In January 2013. around 96 Deputy Collectors were on deputation in various Government and semi-government organisations though there are 22 vacant posts. In March 2013. total 79 Additional Collectors were on deputation in various Departments. The State Government did not increase posts of Deputy Collectors in last 30 years and Additional Collectors in last 20 vears
As per decision, the Government has sanctioned 50 per cent posts of Deputy Collectors and 25 per cent posts of Additional Collector on deputations. The posts of 35 Additional Deputy Collectors have been upgraded to selection grade to head Caste Verification Committee at district level. The Government will also amend the rules of deputation on various departments.
