IF YOU are worried about inflated power bills and apprehending hefty bills during summer, doing following simple measures can help you in bringing down your electricity bills.
Electricity consumption rises during summer because of use of air conditioners, coolers and fans for most part of the day. On an average for consumption Of 1 unit, 1.5 ton air conditioner (1800 volts) takes approximately 40 minutes and 42 inch fan (60 volts) lakes approximately 16 hours 40 minutes. Use of electrical appliances like lights, television, computers, music systems, refrigerators is highest when children are at home during vacations.


■ Maintaining temperature of air conditioners to 24 degrees
■  Regularly cleaning filters of air conditioners
■ Fans consume less electricity as compared to air conditioners. Simultaneous use of fans will have better air circulation and reduce dependence only on an air conditioners
■ Keeping windows closed and using curtains/drapes will help keep indoors cool by blocking outside heat from entering
■ Switching off all appliances when not in use. especially air conditioners and coolers
■  Barter)' chargers, such as those for laptops, cell phones and digital cameras, draw power whenever they are plugged in and are very inefficient. Pull the plug and save power.
■  Replace conventional regulators with electronic regulators lbi ceiling fans.
■  Use CFL which gives better light and consume less electricity than the filament lamps.
■  Use always the natural air and light; avoid switching on lights during the day if not required.
