NIAB. an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute's research focus will be animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulating academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.

NIAB is looking for Senior, Mid-career and Young Scientists with outstanding record of research accomplishments, as documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. NIAB is looking for dedicated and committed Scientists who believe in institution building and have a passion for academic excellence and quality research. NIAB invites applications for Scientific Positions on Regular basis in the following priority areas:
1.  Genetic Epidemiology,
2.  Bioinformatics,
3.  Transgenic Technology, and
4.  Infectious Diseases.
Outstanding scientists in other related areas also will be considered.


1.   Scientist-H(1 Post)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 67,000 - 79,000
B) Essential Qualifications:
I. Ph.D. in the relevant area with a strong track record in research, academic accomplishment in terms of publications and patents and attracting generous research funding.
ii. Evidence of leadership with 15 years of R&D experience in any one of the above areas.
iii.Should have position at Scientist-F/G/Professor level in Government/ statutory/ autonomous institutions/ universities or equivalent in non-government institutes.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area, establish centres of excellence, help the Director in the general administration of the Institute and develop an ecosystem for communication, creative thinking and innovation.
D) Age: 55 years
2.   Scientist-G(IPost)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 - 67,000 +10,000 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
I. Ph.D. in the relevant area with a strong track record in peer reviewed funding, research and
academic accomplishment in terms of publications and patents, ii. Evidence of leadership with 10 years of R&D experience in any one of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area and establish centres of excellence to address the problems in livestock.
D) Age: 50 Years
3.   Scientist-F(2Posts)
A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400-67,000 + 8,900 G.P
B) Essential Qualifications:
M.Sc. / B.V.Sc /M.B.B.S /B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 12 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas
OR Ph.D. /M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 7 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.
C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area and establish centres of excellence to address the problems in livestock.
D) Age: 50 Years
